# 8 Oneness

“the first lesson should be ONE”

The Right Eye looketh forward in thee into Eternity.
The Left Eye looketh backward into Time.
If thou now suffered thyself to be always looking into Nature,
and the Things of Time, it will be impossible for thee ever
to arrive at the Unity [Oneness] which thou wishest for.
Jakob Böhme (1575-1624)

“There is ample evidence that we have known about Oneness and the perfection of Creation since ancient times in both the West and the East, and we find that evidence in religion as well as in the insights of philosophers. … Buddhists have known about P-A [Nirvana/Oneness] and the illusion of the world of form for 2,500 years.”[i]

As the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. said, “we aren’t going to have peace on earth until we recognize this basic fact of the interrelated structure of the universe.” [ii]  All of creation is interrelated, interconnected and interdependent. We are ONE.

It is a willful, if unconscious, choice for our species to fail in creating a sustainable human community. But it’s not too late. To make the only choice by which we can avoid an apocalypse, we will have to internalize the Truth of Oneness described in Simple Reality.

Insight # 8 comes to us from Edgar Cayce (1877-1945). He was an American psychic/clairvoyant who has been called “the father of holistic medicine.” Cayce founded the Association for Research and Enlightenment (A.R.E.) in 1931.

“The first lesson should be ONE—One—One—One; Oneness of God, oneness of man’s relation, oneness of force, oneness of time, oneness of purpose, oneness in every effort—oneness—oneness!”[iii]
