Truth #5 – Formulaic Reality: The Algebra of Simple Reality

Because we rely on our intellect to guide our behaviors we are lost in a thicket of fear, materialism, pointless pseudo-pleasures, and power-seeking. We have become over-reliant on technology, for example. “The tech giants are seen today as monopolizing internet search and commerce, and they are angling to take over industries such as publishing and automobiles, raising alarms at antitrust agencies in Europe and the United States. Fear that new internet technologies are doing more to waste time and brainpower than to increase productivity has already provoked a backlash in China, where officials recently criticized online gaming as ‘electronic heroin.’”[i]

A change in direction for the human community relying more on intuition and simplicity could avoid our inevitable self-destruction. The intellect is great but making it subordinate to our intuition could lead to more sustainable behavior. Simple algebraic equations demonstrate how we could re-define our worldview as a foundation for a paradigm shift that would enable us to redesign our institutions to be more people-friendly.

For example: Intuition + Intellect = Insight. An insight is a deep understanding of a person or a thing.
