#77 Conditioning and Behavior Modification

“the unreasonable one persists in adapting the world to himself”

“Simple Reality is fundamentally a pragmatic strategy for behavior modification. The Point of Power Practice will gradually free a committed aspirant from his own mental delusions.”[i]

We are empowered by the Point of Power Practice. “Choosing response over reaction time and time again is a process of behavior modification and old conditioned reactions gradually lose energy and fade away. They are replaced by a new set of healthier conditioned behaviors characterized by compassion.”[ii]

The world will perceive you as “unreasonable” when you pursue silence, solitude and simplicity; when you give up the pursuit of plenty, pleasure and power. We expect that judgment, but what others think is of little consequence to an “awake” being.

The world isn’t used to seeing the joy and peace of a True Self shining so brightly in the darkness. “The truth will set us free if we can find the courage to confront our self-destructive story. … Taking the long view, humanity collectively and especially as individuals, can always awaken into the present moment and transcend the delusional paradigm.”[iii]

Insight # 77 comes to us from George Bernard Shaw (1856-1951) who was an Irish playwright, critic, polemicist and political activist.

“The reasonable man adapts himself to the world; the unreasonable one persists in adapting the world to himself.”[iv]
