#28 Peak Experience

“natural ‘mystical’ experience”

People are looking for a transformative experience,
not just a new creed or dogma.[i]
Jerry Adler

American psychologist Abraham Maslow popularized the term “peak experience.” He described these transformational occurrences as “powerful, meaningful experiences in which individuals seem to transcend the self, be at one with the world, and feel completely self-fulfilled.”[ii]

A peak experience is sometimes labeled as flow, an epiphany, a theophany, ecstasy or an experience of the numinous or “mystical,” as noted in the insight below.

Insight # 28 comes from Seth, a “disembodied personality” (not present in the world of Form). He was “channeled” by author Jane Roberts beginning in 1963. Seth’s insights are profound not because of where they come from but because of their intrinsic truth.

“Natural ‘mystical’ [peak] experience, unclothed in dogma, is the original religious therapy that is so often distorted in ecclesiastical organizations, but it represents man’s innate recognition of his oneness with the source of his own being, and of his own experience.”[iii]
